On the day of Resurrection two disciples of Jesus are traveling from Jerusalem to Emauss. (The distance of about 12km) On their way, they meet a stranger, with whom they converse about meaning of Jesus’ Life and death. Arriving in Emaus, the disciples are asking him to stay with them. They recognize the stranger to be the risen Jesus only, when He stays with them, and breaks the bread with them. After that Jesus vanished out of their sight. The disciples inspired by their experience, immediately returned to Jerusalem, where they met with other disciples. (Lk 24:13-35)
Even today the risen Jesus walks with us so, that we could recognize Him.
In the center of the stained glass depicts disciples offering Christ lodging for the night. Two angels are seen beneath the thematic scene, holding a roll with the text: Bleibe bei uns, denn es will Abend / werden · u · der Tag hat sich geneigt [“Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over”. Luke 24:29]. A dedication is placed in the lower part of the stained glass: Gott zur Ehre gestiftet von Theod. Prieskorn · Psl. 50 v 23 [In Hounour of God dedicated by Theodor Prieskorn · Psl. 50 v 23”].
